A group of ten found guilty of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for carrying out the cyber-bullying of Brigitte Macron, the spouse of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.

The accused individuals faced charges of circulating untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to publishing hurtful comments about the couple's 24-year age gap.

The court handed down suspended jail terms of a maximum of eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has still to be made public.

A circulating unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.

This recent ruling in France coincides with the Macrons pursuing a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared analogous false narratives about the first lady's gender.

Their lawsuit contends that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.

Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.

Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her now-husband when she worked as an educator at his lycée.

The couple married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
